Our superb heavyweight mat is made from 5mm thick rigid Acrylic with a outside diameter of 285mm and weight of 368g. Designed to be used with direct drive 'heavy' platter turntables the extra thickness over standard mats will help improve the dynamics of playback. The outside diameter has been engineered to perfectly sit inside the raised platter lip of the Technics SL series and Audio Technica LP120 and LP1240....This is not some one sizes fits all mat!
 
The audio benefits of acrylic are well known. Different mat materials be it rubber, leather, felt, cork, or snake oil infused carbonite, all 'colour' the sound of vinyl playback with their own unique sonic signatures. Acrylic being similar in mechanical impedance and properties to vinyl is generally regarded to give playback a less 'splashy', natural see through sound with improved mid-range and tighter bass.
